Let’s get the weekend started with our weekly 10 Games to Watch post, featuring games in both New England and New York.
Morrisville State at Brockport (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): Who is going to slow down these Golden Eagles? Seriously, who? Maybe the Mustangs? We’ll see, but expect another solid performance from Brockport quarterback Joe Germinerio. PREDICTION: Brockport 31, Morrisville State 17
Alfred at SUNY Cortland (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): The Saxons don’t appear to be slowing down as the Purple and Gold currently boast an impressive 5-0 ledger. This week, their momentum from a 21-14 win over St. John Fisher should continue. PREDICTION: Alfred 28, SUNY Cortland 14
Framingham State at Plymouth State (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): Our Noontime Sports Team of the Week will look to find a way to slow down Framingham State’s Quron Wright, while limiting passes toward Jaquan Harris, who finished last week’s game against Fitchburg State with a NCAA Division III record five interceptions. PREDICTION: Framingham State 28, Plymouth State 17
Endicott at Western New England (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): Can the Golden Bears’ success from two weeks ago – you know, their big and exciting overtime win over St. Lawrence? – continue this week against Endicott? PREDICTION: WNE 31, Endicott 17
Castleton at Husson (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): One week after a big win over SUNY Maritime, Gabby Price‘s crew will look to earn another important win when they welcome the Spartans to Maine. Look for a big game from both halfbacks, including Moe Harris of Castleton. PREDICTION: Husson 27, Castleton 17
Hobart at Hartwick (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): It seems like Hobart is back to their winning ways following a win a week ago over RPI. This week, the defense must find a way to slow down a Hawks offense that put up 52 points against Morrisville State. PREDICTION: Hobart 31, Hartwick 29
Ithaca at RPI (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1 p.m.): One week after being shut-out by the Statesmen, the Engineers will look to bounce back against a Bombers squad that has been victorious in all three Liberty League games this fall. PREDICTION: Ithaca 28, RPI 21
Trinity at Tufts (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 1:30 p.m.): An early season setback to Wesleyan seems to be a thing of the past for these Jumbos, who have cruised to back-to-back wins recently against Bates and Bowdoin. Can that success continue against a talented Bantams squad that tallied 594 yards of total offense a week ago in their 41-13 win over Hamilton? We’ll find out! PREDICTION: Tufts 31, Trinity 29
Williams at Middlebury (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 2 p.m.): Can the Panthers continue their early season success against a talented Williams offense, which is led by first-year quarterback Bobby Maimaron and first-year wide-out Frank Stola? We’ll see – the Ephs will also need to find a way to contain Middlebury signal-caller Jared Lebowitz. PREDICTION: Middlebury 35, Williams 32
Springfield at Merchant Marine (Saturday, Oct. 14th @ 2 p.m.): Can Springfield’s triple-option success, as well as its impressive defensive play continue this week against Merchant Marine? We’ll find out – we could be in for either a high scoring affair or a defensive battle. PREDICTION: Springfield 21, Merchant Marine 13
